I have a brown flower like fungus growing by my washer?

It's brown, has a glossy texture to it, wavy around the edge. Could this be caused by my washer if it was leaking? Is it a mold or a fungus? It's coming out of the corner in my laundry room. It's about the size of a baseball. ThnxI have a brown flower like fungus growing by my washer?
It's a fungus, and you need to have someone inspect your house for rot. For a fungus that size to show up, there has to be a CONSIDERABLE amount of moisture in the area. You may be looking at having to have the floor and walls replaced.I have a brown flower like fungus growing by my washer?
Doesn't sound like mold but then again there are thousands of species. Get some water and mix in some bleach. make it fairly strong. then poor it on the stuff. see if that kills it.
Mushroom!
its a fungus and you should get an expert to check it out because you house might be licking and rooting

I have a stackable washer & dryer & coming into a problem w/clogs in the main line from lint? Any1 no how fix?

Does anyone know what can be done to prevent future clogs so I dont have to rent a 50 dollar snake each month?I have a stackable washer %26amp; dryer %26amp; coming into a problem w/clogs in the main line from lint? Any1 no how fix?
Yes.There is actually a lint trap box you can buy at most any hardware store for about 10 dollars that will resolve your whole issue.I sell stackable sets, and my father was an electrician contractor.I have a stackable washer %26amp; dryer %26amp; coming into a problem w/clogs in the main line from lint? Any1 no how fix?
Put a sock over it.
buy a lint box will help, and also a snake, that way you will not have to rent one.
The vent piping should be smooth on the inside and no kinks or sharp bends, no obstructions on the outlet, and stop using drier sheets.

If you keep a gift card in your pant's pocket and put it in the washer and dryer, will the giftcard still work?

i didn't do it on pupose, it was a accident. so would the gift card still work?If you keep a gift card in your pant's pocket and put it in the washer and dryer, will the giftcard still work?
probably.

most of them work on a barcode or magstrip

so if the barcode hasn't deteriorated or it hasn't been in contact with a flipping huge electromagnet, itll be fine

it takes a lot to screw up the magstrips of card.If you keep a gift card in your pant's pocket and put it in the washer and dryer, will the giftcard still work?
Well, if it's scratched, im not sure(sometimes, they DO get scratched when put in the washer and dryer!)

Go to the store and explain what happened.

You might end up getting a new gift card, have your gift card work anyway, or they'll just be cold-hearted and say no. =/

Good luck!

  • In response to answers for the removal of ';dogs'; from washer.?

This particular model washer , area for the ';dogs'; is a little different from the more popular type of washer , in that , it has a transparent plastic covering over the dogs and it is

It has a couple of little ears on it - just reach in with a pair of needle nose pliers and grab it and pull it straight out and it will then expose the 7/16'; head bolt that holds the agitator onto the transmission shaft.

We are having a problem with our Kenmore Elite he3t washer?

The washer stopped half way through the normal wash cycle and now all of our clothes are stuck in there. Does anybody know what the F6L code means and how we can solve the problem without a repair man

We are having a problem with our Kenmore Elite he3t washer?
Some sort of electrical problem - maybe temporary.

    Hit the pause/cancel button twice

press the drain and spin button and see if it pumps out

reselect the cycle you want and press start again

hope it completes the cycle this time.

You can unlock the door by holding down the drain and spin button but you really don't want to unlock the door

Are you using an extension cord? Is it heavy enough? With a lot of clothes and water in it that washer draws a lot of power - through a too small extension cord it will get too little voltage and will shut itself off. I'm especially suspicious because the F codes are suppose to be just F and a number - the L in your code implies ';low'; as in low supply voltage?

Is in there such a thing as a kind of washer (hardware) that one of the sides opens?

Since I am not exactly sure what you are asking here are a couple of ideas

There is a split lock washer, which has a slit in it, is like a small spring and is used to keep a nut or bolt tight when there is some vibration.

There is also an item which is actually a snap ring called an E ring which, when installed in a slot in a shaft will keep the shaft in place.

The third thing I can think of is shims used to level equipment. These usually have a slot so the bolt holding the equipment in place does not have to be removed to add a shim.

Hope some of this is helpfulIs in there such a thing as a kind of washer (hardware) that one of the sides opens?
I am guessing you want to add a washer without removing the nut. There are (or you could make by hack sawing) washers in the shape of a ';C'; so they can be slid over the bolt.Is in there such a thing as a kind of washer (hardware) that one of the sides opens?

  • 10 points!! now!! so I washed my sweatshirt in the washer, with a red sweater by accident?

and now there's pink spots all over my sweater. i already washed it a few times, and put it out in the sun to fade, but they are still noticeable!

what can i do?10 points!! now!! so I washed my sweatshirt in the washer, with a red sweater by accident?
Get some acrylic paint and glitter glue and dazzle it up! It's just a sweater. I'm not an artist, but I use to use a sponge and acrylic paint and jazz up my husbands t-shirts when I ruined them.....I cut it up a bit and used it to the beach.

    Good luck!

(**)10 points!! now!! so I washed my sweatshirt in the washer, with a red sweater by accident?
Hi, I dont know where you are from, but in South Africa we have a product called ';VANISH';, you can put it on any stain and it will remove the stain with out bleaching or fading your clothes. (The mother who washed her 6wk old baby's clothes and it all went green - you can also use vanish if it is available in your country-it should be bec it is not a South African product.)
That is more than just a stain, it's dye. It won't come out. First answer is 100% right.
How do you feel about a pink?

Sorry, you shouldn't have put it in the sun. The stain is set for life.
Try dying the sweatshirt. It'll be a different color, but at least you won't have spots all over it.
toss it, unless you like pink polka dots
Try washing it again and using hot water and bleach. It may be to late but it's worth a shot.
you can't get it out, but you can go buy that rid dye for clothes and dye it black.
yeah it wont come out.. If you like pink then your set =) but if you dont then your screwed 0.o sorry
OK you can go to wal-mart and go to the department that sells laundry soap and fabric softeners and Thar is some stuff that is close dye and you can dye your sweater back write i done it to my blue jeans because i got bleach on it and it works good..

What is the best washer and dryer brand?

';Consumer Reports'; evaluated washing machines (Feb. 2005, p. 332 +) last year. General conclusions: Front loaders tend to give you the best of everything but traditional top-loaders offer the best value.

Their Quick picks for best performance at a modest price were Whirlpool Gold, Kenmore 1584, and Whirlpool LSW9700P. Also listed as a value if noise isn't an issue was GE WBSR3.

Quick picks for performance at a high price: Kenmore Elite HE3; LG WM1814C %26amp; WM2032H; and Whirlpool Duet.

Brand reliability ratings for top loaders found Roper, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool at the top of the list. GE %26amp; Kenmore topped the list for front-loaders.What is the best washer and dryer brand?
NOT Maytag!!!!! We bought their middle to upper end washer and dryer and in the last 2 1/2 years, we have had the repairman here several times. The motor went out on the washer. The tub leaked. The washer freezes as it transitions into spin mode. The heating mechanism in the dryer died. If you don't have your clothes shoved to the bottom of the washer, the water sprays at such an angle that water sprays out all over the place as the tub fills. We've spent hundreds of dollars on service calls and parts. PLEASE do NOT buy Maytag. What is the best washer and dryer brand?
whirlpool are by far the best quality machine although some of there parts are bought in from hotpoint hoitpoint are ok if you need a quicker wash eg 35min quick wash but not as good quality as whirlpool please please stay away from hoover they are now utilising many plastic parts including outer drums and rear drive wheels candy are ok although the pumps on candys arent much cop and tend to be the first thing to go common problem so for a good domestic machine i would recomend whirlpool or zanussi are another good make but tend to take a little longer 1hr15mins for 60degree fast coloureds cycle so if you want quality and speed best go with whirlpool if you have enough room for a large top loading machine then the american style top loader by MAYTAG are an excellent buy they are good quality hold an obscene amount of washing in 1 load eg kingsize continental quilt no probs and can complete a 90 degree white wash in 30minutes absolutly fantastic machines but take up quite a bit of room so not sure if they are suitable for you if not then go for the whirlpool hope iv,e helped some
    Kenmore they last forever
Kenmore.I've had a Kenmore dryer for 25 years, and it still works great.
    Try LG
We bought the front-loading high-end Whirlpool Duet HT pair from some local appliance place (where we got the best deal). They're on the pricier side, but you'll never need to replace them. Ever. Plus, you can stack them on top of each other to save room. My wife really likes this set-up vs. our side-by-side top loader from before. Also, they use way less detergent and water. Honestly they really pay for themselves after a few years. Your clothes will never be cleaner.

    http://duet.whirlpool.com/
Whirlpool, however, if you don't like the price go to Best Buy Whirlpool makes a specific brand which is only sold their AND it costs quite a bit less.
I think GE is. Between me my mother and 4 sisters we have used every kind in the book including the nice expensive Maytag's which really kinda suck if you ask me. GE more effencent for the money!
    nothing beats Whirlpool!
    I love my Maytags!!!

Who can tell me the best there is for dish washer detergent that cleans the best?

Cascade Complete %26amp; don't over load the dishwasher.=)Who can tell me the best there is for dish washer detergent that cleans the best?
Dude I get great results with Electrasol Gel, They don't advertise as much as Cascade, but so what. GM was the biggest car company in the world and advertised a lot, doesn't mean they were the best, and nowadays we know they weren't

    Helpful tips:

First and foremost. LOAD the machine correctly. Don't put large bowls on the bottom to block water spray, and have soiled surfaces of dishes facing the water spray as much as possible. This idea might seem elementary, but I've noticed it skips many people

Water temperature - Dish machine water temp should be at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the machine. If your dishwasher doesn't have it own supplemental water heater, check the settings on your house water heater. Make adjustments as necessary. Make sure you run the water till it's hot at the kitchen faucet before you turn the machine on.

Not enough water? - Is enough water being pumped in the machine so that the spray arms don't just spray the water half way up. Investigate. Don't take showers, water the lawn, etc when the dish machine is on. Most homes don't have enough water pressure for high demand water usage, not even new homes being built. Something they always overlook

Not enough final rinsing- I discovered this with my dishwasher which is only 3 years old. In an effort to make them more water mising, they went overboard. My dishwasher only has one final rinse. This is ridiculous! We have hard water where I live, so one final rinse is definitely not enough. So I do one or two manual rinse and holds without fail after each wash cycle.

Very Hard Water -try baking soda or borax in main wash cycle in addition to the detergent you are using. I don't think using a rinse aid is necessary. You might find that it helps. If you have soft water, a rinse aid is usually not necessary.

Don't use powders, they might not dissolve and they have a tendency to leave residues, meaning they don't rinse as thoroughly.Who can tell me the best there is for dish washer detergent that cleans the best?
In my opinion, I use 2 together...cascade and lemi-shine. The lemi-shine is great for hard water stains and the little extras left on dishes (bbq sauce etc.) You don't need alot.....I use the little pouch of cascade and sprinkle in some lemi-shine.....it really works!
Cascade! There are very many options of Cascade but I use Cascade with Baking Soda and Dawn. (Do not use regular baking soda and regular Dawn in your dishwasher!) I've used many products and this is the best one I've used so far! (:
It's not really so much the detergent you use. Rinsing off the idshes before you put them in makes a huge difference. Also a rinse aid will keep them spot free.
I use just plain white vinegar. I pour it in the rinse spot and the soap holder dishes come out beautiful, no chemicals and no spots! Try it!
Rinse the dishes before putting them in helps a lot, then something like electrasol tabs works really well. No measuring or pouring, just take it out of the wrapper. Good stuff.

  • HELP: I left my clothes in the washer with water for 2 days- how can I get rid of the bad, fart, moldy smell?

I washed my clothes 3 times back-back and they still have this fart, moldy smell.... Is there anything I can use to get rid of the smell. Thanks in advanced.HELP: I left my clothes in the washer with water for 2 days- how can I get rid of the bad, fart, moldy smell?
rewashing with vinegar and then with the detergent again.HELP: I left my clothes in the washer with water for 2 days- how can I get rid of the bad, fart, moldy smell?
fill the machine with water and add 3 or more cups of vinegar add your clothes in there and let them wash in it keeping the lid up let them sit in the water for a good hour before lowering the lid and let the cycle finish by rinsing 2 times , then fill the washer again and add detergent and wash the clothes again , add another 2 cups of vinegar to the rinse water and keep the lid up again to let them soak for another hour , lower the lid and rinse 2 times make sure that there is no soap left in the clothes, if you have a line outside hang your laundry outside if not in the dryer,
Go to the grocery store and see if they have washing soda; it's in the laundry products aisle. It's cheap and should work for you. It's real similar to baking soda but better for laundry and odors. Add a cup pf the washing soda, your regular detergent and fabric softener. I'd wash the load with as hot of water as the fabrics will allow and after the load starts to agitate, stop it for about an hour to let the clothes soak. Then turn the machine back on and let it do it's thing.
the first thing you should do is ask yourself ';why the hell did i leave clothes in the washer with water for two days?'; the second thing you should do is try oxyclean, if that doesn't work try vinegar, if that doesn't work try soaking them in tomato juice (hey it works for skunk smell why not this?) if this works then skip strait to step four, if it does not preform step three which is going to ehow.com because they know like ... everything... step four: once the smell is gone, remember not to leave your clothes in the washer with water for two days again
Wash with White Vinegar and Borax washing powder.

You won't really be able to tell if the odor is gone until you dry them.

If it's still there you need to repeat.

Also they sell detergent with odor removers in them.

Another good place for answers is www.ehow.com How to do just about anything. good site.

    Good Luck
put it in tomato juice for like 10 min. and then take it out and let it dry for like 5-10 min. and then put it in the washer machine! hopefully that works!
rinse them then drain and then rewash add extra conditioner all be well, my son left clothes in mine when i away lat time for a couple of days and i did that and it work ok
Wash with white vinegar and plain water 3 -4 cups. Rinse and re -wash with detergent and Baking Soda or Borax 1 cup.
    Hot water and vinegar
try adding oxyclean with your detergent.

also try adding some white vinegar to the rinse cycle
    Try washing with ammonia
u shouldnt have left them in the darn washerin water for three days, just toss them in the trash.
they actually are moldy so im not sure what to do, you could try like febreezing the hell out of them hah
Try soaking in vinger and adding baken soda to the regular wash. rinse well.
soak in soapy water and baking soda for an hour before you wash

    then wash again

Unclogging windshield washer fluid on car?

My windshield washer fluid keeps getting clogged. When I take it to the dealer, the some how unclog it. Any ideas on what they are doing or how it would get clogged? I've had it happen three times now.Unclogging windshield washer fluid on car?
They probably use an air compressor. There is an attachment that can be used which pushes air through the tubing to unclog it. If it is continually happening, there has to cause to create the clogs. Are you using a washing fluid that doesn't freeze?

Easiest, and probably the cheapest solution in the long run, is to change the tubing. If it still keeps happening, add a new nosel on the end. Those are the only two key places where the hose clogs.Unclogging windshield washer fluid on car?
They need to flush the debris out of the system. Junk clogs the nozzle. They need to take the hose off the nozzle, back flush the nozzle so that the liquid does not run back down the hose, and run the washer with the hoses disconnected from the nozzles. This should get the dirt out. Then hook up the hoses again and test.
they prob. blow air thru it backwards. but it should not get clogged at all , ever. empty and clean out your washer reservoir . there should not be anything in there that would make a clog.
Paper clip to clean and align the nozzle tip. You need to clean out your reservoir under the hood. Hopefully that will stop the clogging issue. Good luck.
i use a pin to open up the holes but you can use a thin piece of wire. it will work just as good.
Try running a high concentration of washing up fluid through the system. Worked for me and cheap too.

I am considering purchasing a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer. Good/bad experiences, recommendations?

I found a good deal on a Whirlpool Duet front-load washer, 3.8 cu ft, for $649. Does anyone have good or bad experiences with these, or recommendations? Thanks for all responses!!I am considering purchasing a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer. Good/bad experiences, recommendations?
I have a Whirlpool front loader, but not a Duet, mines a little compact one. I seems to work pretty well. I remember when I first got it I was impressed by how clean and soft the clothes came out, but my old washer was on it's last legs and may not have been washing right , so I don't know if that is a fair comparison. When the washer is just washing, it's really quiet, but the spin cycle is something else entirely if the load isn't really well balanced. But I have mine upstairs on a wood floor, on a concrete floor would be less of a problem. I haven't noticed that the cycle is excessively long. But my old washer was in the basement so I never knew when it was done, I just went down when I got around to it. If one is doing more than one load, the dryer won't be done with the first load before the second is washed anyway. The controls on mine are a bit annoying, unlike a top loader, you can't stop the spin cycle and rearrange the load if unbalanced, but mine isn't a Duet, the Duet could be different.I am considering purchasing a Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer. Good/bad experiences, recommendations?
My sister purchased one thinking she would save on water however it takes forever to wash your clothes...so you use less water but more electricity and time wasted doing chores such as laundry....She wished she never purchased the front loaders.
I had a Maytag Neptune front loader. It leaked and when it did it leaked on on of the computers inside of the machine. Then the motor went out, just to replace the motor was $600. I could but a new machine for less and that is what I did, a top loader. I was lucky...it was two weeks before my warranty ran out. So they are going to fix it and sell it as a repo washer and credit my account for what they sell it for. I'll never buy a front loader again. Oh yeah, it did take longer to wash the clothes.
Careful, the front seal on the front end loaders are prone to leak.. Get the extended warrenty..
I have both the washer and dryer and I love them both. To make life a little easier for you, you might also want to purchase the pedestals. It saves a lot of wear and tear on your back plus is fantastic storage space. I love mine, but I paid a bit more than you did. I guess they are starting to come down on the prices since there is competition out there now, whereas Whirlpool was the first to come out with them.

Problem filling Kenmore washer 110 (Topload); cold water fill tub very slowly, hot water fill at normal rate?

undo the hose, there should be a screen, clean it out......If that's not the problem then it's your valve or pipes need to be replaced.......Problem filling Kenmore washer 110 (Topload); cold water fill tub very slowly, hot water fill at normal rate?
I see this problem a lot. There or two possibilities or a combination of both. Normally people use 3 to 4 times as much cold water as hot so this happens to the cold side faster. Your cold water inlet valve has a screen which clogs up with calcium (white goo) and sometimes just removing this is all it takes. The other thing is if this didnt work you need a new water valve due to calcium buildup inside of the valve.Problem filling Kenmore washer 110 (Topload); cold water fill tub very slowly, hot water fill at normal rate?
well normally your hot water pipes plug up first so i would check to see if you have a kink in the hose or even undo the hose from the washer and turn it on see if it is the water from the house or if the slowness is caused by the washer
clean the hose inlet screens on the back of the washer
Turn off the cold water and unscrew the fitting from the hose to the washer end. Inside you will see a washer and small screen. See if the screen is clogged. You can put the hose in the sink and turn the water back on to see if there is pressure. If there is then it's in the cold water side of the solenoid valve. Could be sediment.

  • How do clothes shrink exactly? Dryer or washer or both? Someone help please I don't want my clothes to shrink!?

So, do clothes shrink in the dryer or the washer? If so, how can you prevent this from happening because my clothes all fit perfect %26amp; if they get any smaller they won't fit...How do clothes shrink exactly? Dryer or washer or both? Someone help please I don't want my clothes to shrink!?
If clothing labels say to wash in cold water, washing in warm or hot water can cause the clothes to shrink. A good detergent can keep clothes from shrinking, too. My favorites for washing delicates in cold water are Woolite and Tide Total Care. I always turn the clothes inside out to prevent pilling or any other damage.

Does your washer have ';wrinkle guard/control';, gentle, or delicates cycles? Using any of those cycles can help your clothes resist shrinkage.

Clothing labels also tell which dryer temperature is best. If you are in doubt, you can dry all your clothes on low temp.

The ultimate way to prevent shrinkage in a dryer is to hang clothes on plastic hangers and let them air-dry.

I dry clothes made from synthetic fabrics on plastic hangers instead of putting them in the dryer. As a result, those garments look new for years.

Hope this helps! How do clothes shrink exactly? Dryer or washer or both? Someone help please I don't want my clothes to shrink!?
Natural fibers shrink from sharp temprature change such as cold to hot or ot to cold. Going form washer into dryer can cause shrinkage unless you can set dryer heat to low or take clothes out when partly dry and hang to finish.

That's some expensive washer solvent. A gallon of windex........$$$$!

The only issue I can see (aside from the freezing) is how fast it will dry in the summer on a hot windshield. It may dry b4 it even hits the windshield when it's hot.
Do you mean something like windex??? In the winter no, as it will freeze, and also if you mean say your own mix of ammona and water, again in the winter , it will freeze.

But in the summer go ahead, I do. The windshild washer you get in the winter has a antifreeze mixed in so it will not freeze. And no it will not mess up the sprayers.
it depends on where you live....windex will freeze

You could start at The University of Common Sense. If you can use a computer, you should be able to research the programs of study offered at universities throught the country. And you would see that no such program exists.

I bought a Maytag Neptune upright, front loading washer/dryer in year 2000?

I do not remember if it was gas or electric but someone wants to buy it and needs to know. It is now in storage and not easily gotten to just to find that out. Did Maytag make both? Also......it had a problem spinning in the wash cycle. The clothes would end up completely soaked and sitting in water....what could that be?I bought a Maytag Neptune upright, front loading washer/dryer in year 2000?
Most manufactures make both gas and electric as for the water, I recently had the same problem, I had a lint trap in the washer that blocked up with coins and baby socks and of course lint. Once removed it worked like a champ again.

How do i control the lint in my washer machine?

lint comes on my clotherHow do i control the lint in my washer machine?
The easiest way is to sort the clothes by color and wash similar colors together. Also wash only towels together by color. You do not need to go to the extreme of only light blues, then only yellows, etc. Just do towels separately by light and dark colors, clothes by whites, pastels and darks. And most importantly, check pockets for tissues. There is nothing as dreadful than washing a tissue that disintegrates in the wash. How do i control the lint in my washer machine?
clothes are going to always do that. You will also get alot of residue in the washer drum when you use powder laundry detergent. What i do is i take a small cloth that is a little wet (damp) and wipe out the washer drum often. If you wish you can use simple green on the small cloth to clean out the washer drum without hurting your next load of clothes.
Maybe you should try cleaning your dryer lint catcher
Hmm? Lint usually is a problem in the dryer and all you have to do is clean out the line trap, which you should do everytime you use it. I know that if I wash especially linty things in the washer the lint will get on my other clothes. For example i have this chinelle throw and it will put red lint all over things, but the trick is to wash it by itself, problem solved.
Wash your clothes inside out on a gentler cycle... Wash dark clothes together and light's together...I wash towels seperate..in light and dark loads...Use less detergent and dry with dryer sheets.... Clean your dryer lint trap after every load..

Can windshield washer fluid harm a car's finish?

They say you should never allow anti-freeze to come in contact with your cars' paint because it can discolor it. However, some windshield washer fluids are prepared to withstand temperatures of up to 20 degrees below zero. That must mean there's a form of anti-freeze in them. So, I guess my question is...how does ';regular'; anti-freeze harm a paint finish and windshield washer fluid - which has anti-freeze properties in it - doesn't?

ThanksCan windshield washer fluid harm a car's finish?
always rinse any fluids off the painted surfaceCan windshield washer fluid harm a car's finish?
It is the alcohol(glycol) component which has a low freezing point, and a high boiling point in specific mixtures, that gives windshield washer solvent its low freezing point, antifreeze its low freezing, and high boiling point, brake fluid its low freezing, and high boiling point.

Many substances containing alcohol are detrimental to most automotive paints, especially unwaxed paints, but windshield washer solvent is the least harmful because of the low alcohol content, and the way it is intended top be distributed. Antifreeze is not usually harmful, depending on how hot the paint is, but it is highly toxic, can be readily inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, and once in the blood it can quickly cause severe nervous system damage, paralysis, and death to humans and animals, and has a long half life(%26gt;10,000 years), which means it persists in ground water. Never dump it on the ground. Brake fluid is also an alcohol( polyglycol) that will dissolve paint quickly especially when warmed. When hot, it will strip paint to the metal. It is also highly toxic, readily absorbed through the skin, and has a long half life.

The most effective, single preventive measure when pouring any thing containing any of these substances is to have a container of clean water handy for rinsing the affected area. never pou on the gropund or down the drain. Wearing all protectives when using is highly recommended.
Winshield washer fluid has more water and color added to it, but if ur car ever overheats and ur not to far away from a gas station or home windshield wiper fluid will work just like anti freeze been there used it , it works
Personally, I don't like pre-mixed windshield washer solvents sold in most stores, as yes, it can damage the paint and more importantly, is toxic as well.

For nearly 35 years I've always found that a product called 20/10 summer time concentrate has worked very well. It is non-toxic and designed only to be used when the temp is above freezing, it can make up to 4 gallons of windshield washer cleaner depending upon the strength you wish to have. I don't suggest you'd want to drink it; but, I seem to remember reading somewhere that you could drink the entire quart bottle without any ill effects! Now the summer concentrate is in a green bottle, there is a winter formula that is in a white bottle with red lettering. The product is getting hard to find; stores in the Bay Area don't seem to carry the product any longer, I had to search the Web the last time and found someone who carried it.

It's a great product that works well and isn't toxic. It maybe a pain, but, you can switch the contents or use up the contents of a winshield washer bottle and put the winter time concentration when the weather turns cold. Given where I live, I've haven't used the winter formula in years, but, I understand its still available.

I hope this helps, a car nut.
THE WAY THEY KEEP WASHER FLUID FROM FREEZING IS BY ADDING SOME ALCOHOL TO THE MIXTURE. ETHELINE GLYCOL, THE MAIN INGREDIENT IN ANTI-FREEZE, IS NOT USED, AND WOULD NOT WORK WELL AT CLEANING GLASS. TO ANSWER THE QUESTION CORRECTLY...THE ALCOHOL IN THE WASHER FLUID (IF USED IN THE FORMULA) COULD STRIP THE WAX FROM THE VEHICLE PAINT. NOT ALL WASHER FLUIDS USE ALCOHOL SO MY ADVICE TO YOU IS START READING THE LABELS ON THE PRODUCTS THAT YOU USE.
Yeah washer fluid and anti frezze is too very diff things.

Washer fluid is alcohol based, and a great cleaner

Etheline glycol is what anti freeze is based from.. It's a poor cleaner. It's greasy to a point and would be very bad on your front glass.

Where can i get the best deal on washer and dryer?

find the model you want, i recommend LG

go online and see the deals on the same model at different stores. try home depot, sears, lowe's, costco, sams club, best buy, fry's electronics.

dont forget to calculate delivery, but look out because some of the stores might have it free

next, once you have found the cheapest price, lets say at sears, call the competitors and see if they will beat it, which they should. if they just match it, ask for free delivery and installation or something else, ask directly what they can offer to sweeten the deal

if you end up going to those places where they have scratched and dented stuff, make sure the product still carries the manufacturer warrantyWhere can i get the best deal on washer and dryer?

What can I use to run my dish washer I ran out of detergent?

Automatic dishwasher detergents provide the chemical energy to help remove food soil from all types of cooking and serving items. Unlike hand dishwashing products, these must be very low to nonsudsing. Suds cushion the mechanical cleaning action of the water and result in suds overflow from the machine. In addition, automatic dishwasher detergents should inhibit foam that certain protein-containing foods, such as egg and milk, create. They must also soften water to prevent insoluble deposits, loosen and hold soil in suspension, leave items clean and grease-free so they rinse and dry without spots, and be safe for a wide variety of dishes, glassware, utensils, etc. There is no substitute for automatic dishwashing detergent, otherwise you could harm your dishwasher tooWhat can I use to run my dish washer I ran out of detergent?

Any thing else you use may cause over sudsing and leaking from the dishwasher. Use nothing right now, run the cycle and go get some in the morning and rewash.
use lots of dishsoap, about 2 cups...the stuff is concentrated you know.

    Well water washer stains?

How do I prevent nasty big brown stains on my light colored laundry? I don't have money to install a water softener right now.Well water washer stains?
try finding a product called *rust out* at ur local walmart...Well water washer stains?
most of the stores ending in ';mart'; carry something called water softener in a box and it works very well till you get a softener or filtering system

by the way the softener in a box is pretty cheap you may prefer it to the softener system
The brown stain is due to iron in the well water reacting with your fabric softeners and depositing on the fabric in blotches.

    1. Stop using fabric softeners.

    2. Add vinegar to final rinse to solubelize iron and flushed it away eliminating those horrible stains.

    Good luck!!
for whites, try a product call Whink. It comes in powder or liquid. The odor is very strong in the powder so be careful, but it works great for whites, and also the rust stains that well water can cause in tubs, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines. I have well water with a lot of rust as well and this is the best I have found.
you can buy water softner in the detergent isle
You might have a water test done. There are different bacterias and elements that can get into your well water that cause the staining (purple for manganese, for example) and some also are not good to ingest in large quantities. The sooner a problem is caught the cheaper it is to fix!
Lestoil is a great product that will brighten your clothes no matter what color. Or have you tried adding vinegar?
Calgon makes a water softner to add to your wash load. Check in your laundry isle in your store.
you should have your water test for minerals. one of the culperts that brown your light colors, toilets, tubs, and sinks, is iron. I use iron out-to clean appliances and to brighten the cloths. It is very stronge smelling. It will help till you get a filter system. I have gotten Iron out at wal-mart or Canadian tire.

Can I hook up a full sized washer and dryer to a RV?

Why would you want to? Where would you put them? The only way you`d possibly be able to run them would be when hooked up to ';land lines';, and that would be after some extensive plumbing, electrical and interior modifications. Save youself some headaches and just go to the laundrymat when parked. Can I hook up a full sized washer and dryer to a RV?
Even RVs with 220 volt services don't actually have 220 volt appliances in them. It could be done, though. But you're dryer would be of no use when you pull into a spot that only has 110 volts. Can I hook up a full sized washer and dryer to a RV?
no, dryers are 220volts and a RV is 110volts.
No. A dryer is 220volts and a camper is only 110. Even if you could I would not advise for another reason. Your RV is built to be balanced. If you go and add somthing as heavey as a full size washer and dryer then you are going to be heavey on one side and this can cause the rv to lean, pull or drive really different. This can cause more tire ware, problems with your shocks and if it is a pull trailer then it could even cause it to sway form side to side.
This all depends on how many watts the inverter in your RV can handle, and how the circuit breakers are set up.

Get the watt ratings from the proposed washer and dryer. Note that an electric dryer is just not going to be an option.

Look in the RV manual and see what the inverter can handle. Then you'll have a basic idea of whether this will work.
yes if you have a full sized water heater
how big is the rv?.......i have a camper.....it depends on if you are going to have some one pick up your grey water (soapy and sewage).....then you have to have a power outlet to plug a washer and dryer in....most campsites don't have that...you will have to go to an actual trailer camp...(trailer park) for that,,,

    Clothes washer shopping-suggestions?

I am shopping for a clothes washer.

The old one (23+ y.o.) I have been using has finally bit the dust (or dirt, grease or grime?)

I have taken this one apart in aim to repair it myself, only to call Sears for their price for this part only to feel overwhelmed by their repair parts price!

Generally, which brand is more durable and longer-lasting? I have seen various styles of clothes washers as each model claims thiers is best.

I live in an area where I use hard water from my well. Do any models clean ';better'; with any type (hard - well or chlorinated - city) water over the other?

I am single, so no one else (??) is planning to use this machine than myself.

Thanks for all references!Clothes washer shopping-suggestions?
If you are into ';self repair';, the best washer to buy is the Whirlpool top loader... Kenmore top loaders are the same IF IT IS THE DIRECT DRIVE type - made by Whirlpool!!!! These are the most reliable I've found, the easiest to repair, and the least expensive parts. I've been in Home Appliance repair for the last 15 years, so this is from a repairman's perspective. There does not seem to be much difference from the hard water side, Calcium gums up certain parts in any washer... Mainly the water valve, pump, %26amp; hoses.... The valve %26amp; pump on the direct drive models are not too expensive, and this design has been around for years!!!!Clothes washer shopping-suggestions?
Look at the';Cabrio'; made by Whirlpool. It is pricey, but worth it
On today's market with very poor quality on almost everything the best solution, on my opinion, is to buy a cheapest possible appliance. A little bit better then average are washers made by Whirlpool. DO NOT BUY ANY FRONT LOADERS! Much more money and much less reliable. Make sure it does not have any computer boards. If you prefer to buy an expensive one, I would recommend to buy an extended warranty.

    Good luck.
They're all foreign made crap. Pick one with the least whistles and bells. Less to go wrong with it.

    Installing washer and dryer?

Is it straightforward to install a washer and dryer (front load), in a newly purchased home? or does one need professional installation.

    ThanksInstalling washer and dryer?
In the area designated for the washer and dryer, you should see a recessed box with water valves and a hole in the middle for the washer drain. Simple to hook-up. Your dryer should have an exhaust in the back that hooks up to the duct in the wall. There should also be a 220 electrical receptacle (if the dryer is electric) to plug into. If the dryer is gas, there are other exhausts to hook up. Normally not a big or hard job. If you are buying a new electric dryer, you will need a cord. They don't come with one. Make sure the plug is the same type as the receptacle.Installing washer and dryer?
There are a few details you did not provide:

    1. Are you buying a new washer

%26amp; dryer? If so, delivery %26amp; instal-

    2. Did the prvious owner of the

house have a washer %26amp; dryer

hooked-up? If so %26amp; yours is

    fueled the same way (dryers

can be either gas or electric)

    its pretty straightforward for

    you to install the connections

    yourself with a screwdriver %26amp;

a pair of pliers. Just be sure both

appliances are level after you get

all connections done. If they are

not, there are metal feet at each

of the 4 corners to be screwed up

or down until a level set on top

of the machine shows they are

correctly aligned. If they are not

    level, the machines will move

when they go into spin cycle.

    3. If you are hiring movers to move

    your appliances, perhaps they

can do the hook-up for you as

    part of their services.

There are several variables that you did not give as details in your questions, so its hard to give you a straight answer.

No need. The new washer won't try to draw from the hot.New washer is cold fill old is hot and cold. I cant find any valves to shut off the pipe what should i do?
the connector that is attached to the wall usually has a tap on it....

if it hasnt, you may need to get a plumber.New washer is cold fill old is hot and cold. I cant find any valves to shut off the pipe what should i do?
I would try to trace the pipes back to their origin in the house. The shutoff valves could be anywhere in between. You know the hot water pipe starts at the water heater so for the hot water shutoff look there first. I've seen shutoff valves in strange places including the garage because the hot water heater was nearby (piping to the house was underground). Also, if the wall containing the feed pipes for your washer is part of an (room) add on to the house look on the other side of that wall because the shutoff valve as a matter of necessity might serve more than one outlet (i.e. kitchen, bathroom). If the wall is an outside wall look for an enclosure/panel on that outside wall. It won't be very big, maybe one foot square and it might not be visible due to vegetation/shrubs. If you find one most likely you will find shutoff valves for both the hot and cold water together. Failing that you will need a plumber to install a valve. And if you need to do that save yourself from future agony by having valves installed on both pipes at the same time.
There must be a shut off valve for the hot water pipe or how did they connect the original washing machine. However, if there really isn't then you need to blank it off OR you can buy an online tap. You can bolt this on to the pipe at any point and as you tighten it up it forms a seal. You can then turn it off and on as you wish. Using found in a B %26amp; Q warehouse or a plumbers centre. Good luck
you can buy a compression fitting that has a blank on the end to seal off the hot pipe.

But it's probably going to be better to fit proper hot and cold washer taps at this point.

Turn off the water at the mains stop-tap.

Drain the hot water storage tank, turn off combi boilers or whatever you have to do to stop the hot water from comming out of the pipe when the washer is disconnected.

Cut the old connectors off and replace with washer taps with a compression fitting.

You may not be trying to revive a wet cellphone or laptop, but these articles refer to electronics in general, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to try a few of these methods:
Toast. Let it dryout, it will take at least a month unless you can open it to dry,, then charge it and turn it on. It might work. Don't get your hopes up though.
try soaking it in alcohol and let it dry afterwards for a couple of days, listen alcohol bonds to water and dries quickly, dont be afraid to mess it up, you already did so chances are it wont start again, but i have had a 40% revival this way. good luck.
It is possible, however EXTREMELY unlikely that it will work again. You should dry it thoroughly, the best way being to simply leave it in a warm, dry place for a period of a few days. Don't attempt to turn it on while it's still wet. If it doesn't come back up after it dries out, there's likely nothing that can be done.

In the market for a new washer!?

Our top loading Whirlpool finally died after twenty years of service. We are looking at front loaders as a replacement but haven't had any experience with them. We would appreciate any suggestions as to manufacturers and models that give the best service for the buck.In the market for a new washer!?
I have a Whirlpool duet set. They are alittle more costly but they save on utility bills and I can get my laundry done in half the time. I love them. I havent had any problems and have had them for 3 yrs. You dont need to use much laundry soap either. In the market for a new washer!?
I have a Kenmore Elite HE3t that is very similar to the Whirlpool duet. I love it!! My husband works over the road and I can do two weeks worth of his dirty clothes in 2 loads. If you go with a high effeciency washer and dryer you will save money on electricity and soap. The loads of laundry will also be cut in half. Your clothes will be much cleaner. You won't smell soap on your clothes after they are washed because they get rinsed so well, which means brighter whites and colors. I love my Kenmore and would highly recommend it to anyone. They are sold at Sears, but never pay full price for them because they go on sale very frequently. They have a few different models-the higher the price the more features.
I have a Kenmore 44052 front loader. I love it! We bought the service plan from Sears too (just in case!) It uses only 13 gallons of water and gets everything super clean. My boyfriend works in construction and we have two boys.....and we used to go to the laundry mat. Needless to say, I am MUCH happier now!

My front loader takes high efficiency detergent. You'll use less soap per load than a top load machine. My machine also has a a high spin option that wrings out the clothes really well. The clothes dry so much quicker and we are saving a lot on drying costs.

Go to Sears or other appliance stores and check them out. Sears has pretty good sales. Our washer was on sale and we saved about $250 on it.

Look at Consumer Reports too. They have a section on front load washers. It should help you decide which one is best for you.

    Good luck and happy shopping!

you will have no fun doing that. It's your motor getting ready to go out.
Better have a service check -- might be the belt burning -- the drum sits on rubber wheels with the drive belt going around it. Could be a wheel is bad and causing drag on the belt.Could be a couple other things also %26gt;%26gt; drum felt seal--motor itself--something got past the lint trap and the blower wheel is hiiting it inside the blower housing. Pull it out from the wall and take the back cover off--this is the way to get inside.

I don't have a washer. What's the best way to wash your clothes in the bath tub without any equipment?

I do not recommend stomping around the tub of clothes, it would be very easy to slip and fall. What I recommend, is to buy a new plunger, that you would normally use for a clogged sink. After soaking the clothes in a good detergent, I recommend liquid cheer, an all fabric bleach, Clorox II,

Then using some old fashioned elbow grease, give the clothes a lot of plunging action in the tub, sort of what an agitator in the washer would do. Don't be wimpy about it, except for delicates.Let them soak a little longer. Then rinse, rinse, rinse. Not getting all the detergent out of the clothes will make them dingy. Even with a good washer, I still hand wash a lot of things, and this method should work for you. If you need a tip for drying things and avoiding wrinkles, do not wring them, just let them hang over plastic hangers, just long enough for them to quit dripping. Then smooth out each piece you want to work on, smooth it out, over a clean towel and roll, roll it up for a little while. After the towel has soaked up the majority of the excess water, then remove the clothing, and hang on non-wire hanger, inside out to finish drying. Inside out helps to avoid those annoying bumps you get on the shoulders, from the hangers. Have fun with it. Someday, you'll look back and be so proud how you were able to things without all the modern conveniences. I sure do! I remember when I was first married, new apartment no stove yet, and I wrapped an entire meal in foil, and left it all day covered up on the space heater, (winter of course). When we came home dinner was ready, and quite good. Dinner without a crock pot. I have lots of stories like this, and am proud of how I figured out how to get things done on my own, not at all ashamed. I'll take ingenuity and perseverance over luxuries any day.I don't have a washer. What's the best way to wash your clothes in the bath tub without any equipment?
i had to do that before. you either put soap on the clothes and rub them together or fill the tub with warm water and soap and add the clothes. go in the tub and walk around and stomp on them back and forth. them rinse them out and hang them all over your apartment on hangers.I don't have a washer. What's the best way to wash your clothes in the bath tub without any equipment?
if you have kids, make it a game. and use cold water from the shower to rinse the items afterwards. play the ';wine making game'; with them, get in there and just trudge around.

If detergent or fabric softener is clogging up your washing machine, then run a cup of white vinegar through it. Its the strangest thing. several months ago my water heater messed up close to the washer and that all got replaced. now this. God help us...I am out of repair money. where could this be coming from?Water on floor around clothes washer, but havent used in several daysWhat could it be? all connections ok.?
Perhaps one of your hoses has loosened up a little.Water on floor around clothes washer, but havent used in several daysWhat could it be? all connections ok.?
check connections at both ends of both hoses that supply water to the wahser all four should be dry. if not try to gently snug them up until water stops. if all 4 r dry tip waher back ( use

2 people) check connections around pump to make sure they are tight. pump is the part that will have a hose coming from the basket on 1 side and on the other the hose will go to the drain.

if all is good fill waher with water only then put into drain/spin cycle and look for water running out under wahser.
the pump retains water after a wash. If it is just a little water and if the connections are good it could be the pump has gone bad and it has a leak, in which the water leaked out and cause a small amount of water on the floor
hi, you probably have some rust at the bottom of the inside of the washing machine and a very small hole has developed and that is where that water is coming from. if you dont use the washer for a couple of weeks, i bet you wont see anymore water.

Sounds like a valve is shorted open. But check to see if you can advance the timer to a spin selection, and if still nothing then you got other problems. Possible in your timer then.
If it is belt driven it might just need a new belt, however if it is gear driven you will be better off to replace the washer.
your water valve may be bad. have you tried it on all temperatures? will it spin in the spin cycle? Have you tried all the cycles?

Thanks.I want to relocate my washer and dryer from the basement to the main floor...?
if it has a double closet that the solution to put them in there if not most closets are easily opened up to accommodate a washer and dryer.by putting the plumbing and venting in there its easily hidden and really won't obstruct it becoming a closet again laterI want to relocate my washer and dryer from the basement to the main floor...?
If you're planning to resell, I'd put it at the edge of a room and turn it into a laundry closet. It'll make the room smaller and the project a little more expensive, but:

    a) This will not be cheap to begin with

    b) Prospective buyers will love having it on the same floor as the bedrooms and it is not an easy project

    c) You will lose all your financial investment if you undo all the work
Yes, put the hookups in the closet

  • Is it ok to use snuggle Softener in the washer and bounce Softener in the dryer?

the perfumy smell might be a bit much. I'd just pick the one you like the smell best and use just one.Is it ok to use snuggle Softener in the washer and bounce Softener in the dryer?
    Yeah it should be fine.

You clothes will smell really nice and be soft.Is it ok to use snuggle Softener in the washer and bounce Softener in the dryer?
    Yes, but not necessary.=)
You can use both but why? Are you trying to get a smell out of something? If that's the case, when you do the laundry, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash. Using both softeners is just a waste of money. I like the bounce bar that sticks in the dryer.
Just realize one thing. You are chemically coating all your clothes, bedding, and towels. Softener's and dryer sheets leave a residue on anything it touches...it will render your towels non-absorbent... and both the smells will be very powerful. If you want nice smelling clothes, then just use a nice smelling laundry detergent... if you new what chemicals were in the dryer sheets.... you'd freak out.... and those same chemicals are in the fabric softener too. Definitely not good for clothes or kids clothing. I stopped using both, and use Dryer Balls when drying all my clothes.. The dryer balls plump up the fabric and make my bedding really soft, and my towels are very soft and absorbent.

Hurry please :)If i'm testing the rusting rate of iron, and the washer i use isn't pure iron? How does the rusting differ?
I am not sure exactly what happens for each metal, but i do know that metals rust at different rates (ex. gold and silver does not rust, but iron certainly does)

depending on the other metal and the ratio of the metals, the washer could rust much more slowly or much faster

Is it worth it to buy 4 years warranty on my washer and dryer and fridge for $447 total ?

or is it better to have a savings account in case of needed repairs ?

The best way to tell is to find out the most expensive problem you can think of with your most expensive appliance, then call your local repair-man from the phone book %26amp; ask what he would charge to fix it. Save that amount %26amp; put it back for a rainy day in an envelope labeled ';appliance maintenance'; . If you happen to need to spend that money on a repair, replace it gradually.

If you just want to give away $500, e-mail me %26amp; I send you my POBox Addy! LOLIs it worth it to buy 4 years warranty on my washer and dryer and fridge for $447 total ?
Extended warranty's are only a good deal for the seller. If you purchased these products new, your 1 year warranty will provide coverage you may need. Most devices break in the first 60 days if something is wrong with them, else they last their expected life. Putting some money in a special account is a great idea, but your probably safe.
No. Most items carry a free manufacturers warranty for at least a year. The money you save can repair most items if needed. Extended warranties are for the majority a waste of money.
Warrantees are there of a specific time because the company knows that their product rarely (if ever) fails during that time period under normal use. So it is a cash cow for them because they never have to pay out..
o.k...a company sells you something and then tries to sell you a warranty in case it breaks, or goes bad? like hell i would pay ';in case '; of shoddy workmanship, or service. what a scam...
No because 4 years and 1 hour later all three will break and the warranty won't cover anything. Major appliances are designed to last around 5 years.
Contact A%26amp;E Factory Service they have no service fee. They also cover cosmetic repairs with no deductible. That comes in handy on appliances inside the house.
depends if the warranty covers everything the i would say yes
No, extended warranties are almost always a waste of money.
    waste of money.

How can I get the sour smell out of my clothes washer?

Put a cup of baking soda and run it through a cycle. It should take it out.How can I get the sour smell out of my clothes washer?
Put your washer on the smallest load setting, then set the temperature to hot/hot (in other words, use hot water for both wash and rinse cycles) Do not put any clothes in, you are going to run the washer empty. Use two capfuls of liquid laundry detergent, one cup of regular Pine-Sol, and one half cup of white (regular) vinegar. This will get rid of just about any smell in your washer. If the smell persists, check your connection to the water supply to make sure that is not where the smell is originating from.

Wipers wroking and I can hear the washer pump but no water is flowing. How do i get at the pump? do I have to take off the wing?Jeep Cherokee 1995 windscreen washer not working?
The pump is in the washer bottle. If you can hear it running, you may have a broken or plugged up line. Can be ice or dirt. Sometimes the pump goes bad and you will still hear it run, Best way I know to find out is to pull the lines off one at a time and check if it is getting fluid pumped thru it. You may need to remove the top cover in front of the windshield to get access to the nozzles. This is not a hard job to do. Hope this helps.Jeep Cherokee 1995 windscreen washer not working?
take the washer hose off at the washer bottle and if you have access to a air compressor hook up a blower nozzle onto the air hose and blow air through the washer line to clear the line out and you will be back in business.

Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?

Run washmachine in the gentle cycle with about 2 cups of white vinegar.Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?
For the washer, spray the inside with a mildew remover like simple green and wipe out really well! Then run a short cycle with hot water and a cup of bleach and run full rinse cycle...if your machine has an extra rinse cycle, use that! When it's finished, leave the lid up until it drys. For the dryer, wipe out thoroughly with a mixture of baking soda and water. Then spray some lemon scented all purpose cleaner on a cloth and wipe out and then wipe out again with a clean dry cloth. Run a full dryer cycle with a damp towel in it and some dryer sheets.Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?
try running the delicate cycle and replace the detergent with BAKING SODA.
Make sure there is nothing trapped under the agitator. Had the same problem when a stocking got under it and didn't realize it until there was a very foul odor in the laundry room. Once it is cleared was a white load with bleach and the odor should be gone.
Try wiping the inside of the dryer down with a 1-to-1 mixture of vinegar and water. If that doesn't work, wipe it to down with lemon juice.
I had the same problem, and searched the internet for an answer--ordered a product advertised for $19.95, highly recommended by testamonials--when I got it looked like salt in a ziploc bag, claimed it was ';all natural, environmentally safe, non-toxic.'; Directions said to put 2 TBSP in washer fill with HOT water, agitate a few minutes and stop, let sit overnight, run through cycle. When I put it in, it smelled like salt water. So, I researched whether salt would kill mold/mildew on the net, and, sure enough, it will. So, try the instructions above with Salt. Just don't do like I did and order the stuff for $20.
Add one cup of bleach and run the washer empty, you can put it on the short cycle, the dryer I do not know, try cleaning out the hose and vent.

What's wrong with washer when the basket bangs against the inside during spin cycle?

Wash load is off balance. What's wrong with washer when the basket bangs against the inside during spin cycle?
Too heavy a load moved to one side of the basket when washed. You would need to stop washer at that time and redistribute the washing to be even. If this happened previously without fixing, the basket may be out of alignment Might need a repairman to realign. What's wrong with washer when the basket bangs against the inside during spin cycle?
Maybe the load isn't evenly spread around - if it is too heavy on one side then it will make that noise. Just open it and push the stuff around so it is all even, then start it back up and see if it is quiet.
Could be a load off balance or a broken tub support spring. Depends on several things like brand of washer, age or is it a front load/ top load.
Basket (drum) bearings are shot. You'll need to remove the drum and replace the bearings, not a big deal

try taking the hoses off the water inlet end ( not on machine ) , there is a screen right inside the hose, sounds like they are clogged. They pop out with small screwdriver , pocket knife , etc. You can then wash them out at the sink.. Be sure to turn off the water before unhooking the hoses. Why doesn't the water flow properly to my washer?
Usually you have a rubber washer with a metal strainer built in it.They get stopped up.Take them out and clean. That should do it.They should be located on the intake of the hot and cold water inlets, where the hose connects.

the ignition (or accessories) should be ';on';, wipers should be ';on'; and have a buddy press the wash button while you are testing. The washer does not have a separate fuse.

USe a test light across the washer terminals. if its not working USUALLY the motor has died. there is little else to go bad except the switch.

Unfortunately I find more pumps go bad than switches, in fact I never replaced a switch for this problem. Report Abuse

The fuse is the ';25A wiper'; fuse located in the dash panel fuse box. If your wipers work than this is not your problem. The pink wire at the pump is the ';hot'; wire and will have power on it only with the key on and pushing the wash button.

The module that controls the washer is built into the wiper motor, and receives the signal from the switch. Also make sure to check the ground, very common to loosen or corrode.

Ladies would u take off the clothes u were wearing and throw then in the washer while it was washing?

It depends on how long the washer has been going and how dirty my clothes are. I guess it would depend on were the machine is - heheheLadies would u take off the clothes u were wearing and throw then in the washer while it was washing?
I have......Ladies would u take off the clothes u were wearing and throw then in the washer while it was washing?
uh yeah i do that a lot, but of course my washer and dryer are in my bathroom. I don't take them off if i have to go to the laundry mat. though i'm sure the other washers would like it! lol
Norman.....what is the deal with laundry? I've never heard of a laundry fetish, but I guess anything is possible. And to answer the question..yes, yes I would and have.
Heya Norman, Yes I would and have many times. If I was washing a Load of Clothes and the ones I had on were Dirty, I most certainly would strip down and throw them in the Laundry..No sense in wasting the Tide and Snuggles..
Not only would I, but I have!
    Yes, I've done this before.:)
Yes, I would and have. But only if I had started the washer within the past five minutes or so, so that the garments would get a complete washing.
Sure....they are know rule you have to let set in clothes basket first.
Absolutely not, you have to always expect the unexpected, and my luck they would take one look and run the other way.LOL
Yes, Norman I would throw the clothes I am currently wearing in the washer but only if the washer is in the wash mode and still has plenty of time left to wash that load
    yes
i do it all the time.
Yes Norman I do that all the time. I also make my kids take off theirs so that everyones clothes can be clean all at once. Luv ya baby.
Yes Norman, I like to wash the clothes that I'm wearing so that all my clothes are clean at once. I'll usually stay naked until the wash cycle finishes then put them in the dryer, and then take a shower and get cleaned up. When I am all sparkling clean, I can get my fresh warm clean clothes out of the dryer and put them on - what a nice feeling! xxx Special K

What is windshield washer fluid made of?

ammonia is one ingredient I believeWhat is windshield washer fluid made of?
bug juiceWhat is windshield washer fluid made of?
Ammonia, Alcohol, or anything else with a very low freezing point mixed with water. A lot of the chemicals they use would be toxic, but they are used in such low doses that they can be easily diluted to become inhert.
It is made from mostly water, methanol and blue food coloring.
99% water, a little bit of detergent, and some alcohol. Winter time mixes have more alcohol to keep it from freezing.

How do i drain the water out of my washer?

i accidently filled my washer with water but then i realized i dont have enough laundry how do i drian it out?How do i drain the water out of my washer?
Turn it to the drain cycle.=)How do i drain the water out of my washer?
If it's a top loading conventional washer, push the knob in, and manually advance the knob to the drain portion of the cycle. I do this all the time when I hand wash some items and mainly use my washer as a tub only.

If it's a front loader with electronic controls or a top loader with electronic controls, look for the cancel drain option.
Turn the knob to where it is just before the spin cycle. You may have to do this more than once for it to drain all the way, if you don't get it to the exact place. You might want to put a towel or two in it just to keep the washer from getting off level.
Turn it on and let it go through the cycle till it drains, like it does when you're doing a load. As soon as it drains, turn it off.
turn the dial untill the washer starts to drain.

  • Why does my washer have an odor?

I bought a used washer about a month ago, ever since I had it there has been an odor on my clothes Is there any way to clean the washer or could something else be wrong with it ?Why does my washer have an odor?
Yes! There is prolly some mildew. What I would suggest is running a large load without any clothes in it. Put in about 1 cup of baking soda and a TON of Borax and when the washer is full open the lid and let it sit for a good couple hours. Then close the lid and proceed. Also if that doesnt work, you can do the same with bleach.

Also, you cant go wrong using wayyyyy a lot of borax. OH and use the hot water cycle for this! Why does my washer have an odor?
If you know how, lift the drum out of the tub. There may be old, rotten socks in there or something. Also, the intake valve could be gummed up, not letting enough water into the drum. You can also run a wash without clothes in it with a cleaning solution, like bleach or even vinegar (don't combine them!) to see if it gets the smell out.
Does it have a fabric softener dispenser in it? If so, take it out and soak it in a strong bleach solution, then hose it out with a strong water stream (outside if possible). Such things often develop mildew inside where you can't see it.
