What is the best washer and dryer brand?

';Consumer Reports'; evaluated washing machines (Feb. 2005, p. 332 +) last year. General conclusions: Front loaders tend to give you the best of everything but traditional top-loaders offer the best value.

Their Quick picks for best performance at a modest price were Whirlpool Gold, Kenmore 1584, and Whirlpool LSW9700P. Also listed as a value if noise isn't an issue was GE WBSR3.

Quick picks for performance at a high price: Kenmore Elite HE3; LG WM1814C %26amp; WM2032H; and Whirlpool Duet.

Brand reliability ratings for top loaders found Roper, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool at the top of the list. GE %26amp; Kenmore topped the list for front-loaders.What is the best washer and dryer brand?
NOT Maytag!!!!! We bought their middle to upper end washer and dryer and in the last 2 1/2 years, we have had the repairman here several times. The motor went out on the washer. The tub leaked. The washer freezes as it transitions into spin mode. The heating mechanism in the dryer died. If you don't have your clothes shoved to the bottom of the washer, the water sprays at such an angle that water sprays out all over the place as the tub fills. We've spent hundreds of dollars on service calls and parts. PLEASE do NOT buy Maytag. What is the best washer and dryer brand?
whirlpool are by far the best quality machine although some of there parts are bought in from hotpoint hoitpoint are ok if you need a quicker wash eg 35min quick wash but not as good quality as whirlpool please please stay away from hoover they are now utilising many plastic parts including outer drums and rear drive wheels candy are ok although the pumps on candys arent much cop and tend to be the first thing to go common problem so for a good domestic machine i would recomend whirlpool or zanussi are another good make but tend to take a little longer 1hr15mins for 60degree fast coloureds cycle so if you want quality and speed best go with whirlpool if you have enough room for a large top loading machine then the american style top loader by MAYTAG are an excellent buy they are good quality hold an obscene amount of washing in 1 load eg kingsize continental quilt no probs and can complete a 90 degree white wash in 30minutes absolutly fantastic machines but take up quite a bit of room so not sure if they are suitable for you if not then go for the whirlpool hope iv,e helped some
Kenmore they last forever
Kenmore.I've had a Kenmore dryer for 25 years, and it still works great.
Try LG
We bought the front-loading high-end Whirlpool Duet HT pair from some local appliance place (where we got the best deal). They're on the pricier side, but you'll never need to replace them. Ever. Plus, you can stack them on top of each other to save room. My wife really likes this set-up vs. our side-by-side top loader from before. Also, they use way less detergent and water. Honestly they really pay for themselves after a few years. Your clothes will never be cleaner.

Whirlpool, however, if you don't like the price go to Best Buy Whirlpool makes a specific brand which is only sold their AND it costs quite a bit less.
I think GE is. Between me my mother and 4 sisters we have used every kind in the book including the nice expensive Maytag's which really kinda suck if you ask me. GE more effencent for the money!
nothing beats Whirlpool!
I love my Maytags!!!
