Well water washer stains?

How do I prevent nasty big brown stains on my light colored laundry? I don't have money to install a water softener right now.Well water washer stains?
try finding a product called *rust out* at ur local walmart...Well water washer stains?
most of the stores ending in ';mart'; carry something called water softener in a box and it works very well till you get a softener or filtering system

by the way the softener in a box is pretty cheap you may prefer it to the softener system
The brown stain is due to iron in the well water reacting with your fabric softeners and depositing on the fabric in blotches.

1. Stop using fabric softeners.

2. Add vinegar to final rinse to solubelize iron and flushed it away eliminating those horrible stains.

Good luck!!
for whites, try a product call Whink. It comes in powder or liquid. The odor is very strong in the powder so be careful, but it works great for whites, and also the rust stains that well water can cause in tubs, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines. I have well water with a lot of rust as well and this is the best I have found.
you can buy water softner in the detergent isle
You might have a water test done. There are different bacterias and elements that can get into your well water that cause the staining (purple for manganese, for example) and some also are not good to ingest in large quantities. The sooner a problem is caught the cheaper it is to fix!
Lestoil is a great product that will brighten your clothes no matter what color. Or have you tried adding vinegar?
Calgon makes a water softner to add to your wash load. Check in your laundry isle in your store.
you should have your water test for minerals. one of the culperts that brown your light colors, toilets, tubs, and sinks, is iron. I use iron out-to clean appliances and to brighten the cloths. It is very stronge smelling. It will help till you get a filter system. I have gotten Iron out at wal-mart or Canadian tire.
