Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?

Run washmachine in the gentle cycle with about 2 cups of white vinegar.Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?
For the washer, spray the inside with a mildew remover like simple green and wipe out really well! Then run a short cycle with hot water and a cup of bleach and run full rinse cycle...if your machine has an extra rinse cycle, use that! When it's finished, leave the lid up until it drys. For the dryer, wipe out thoroughly with a mixture of baking soda and water. Then spray some lemon scented all purpose cleaner on a cloth and wipe out and then wipe out again with a clean dry cloth. Run a full dryer cycle with a damp towel in it and some dryer sheets.Any ideas on how to remove mildew smell from a washer and dryer?
try running the delicate cycle and replace the detergent with BAKING SODA.
Make sure there is nothing trapped under the agitator. Had the same problem when a stocking got under it and didn't realize it until there was a very foul odor in the laundry room. Once it is cleared was a white load with bleach and the odor should be gone.
Try wiping the inside of the dryer down with a 1-to-1 mixture of vinegar and water. If that doesn't work, wipe it to down with lemon juice.
I had the same problem, and searched the internet for an answer--ordered a product advertised for $19.95, highly recommended by testamonials--when I got it looked like salt in a ziploc bag, claimed it was ';all natural, environmentally safe, non-toxic.'; Directions said to put 2 TBSP in washer fill with HOT water, agitate a few minutes and stop, let sit overnight, run through cycle. When I put it in, it smelled like salt water. So, I researched whether salt would kill mold/mildew on the net, and, sure enough, it will. So, try the instructions above with Salt. Just don't do like I did and order the stuff for $20.
Add one cup of bleach and run the washer empty, you can put it on the short cycle, the dryer I do not know, try cleaning out the hose and vent.
